		<description>Keeping the interest of the tech-savvy infoseekers will be the challenge, but as you point out the low cost of many electronic services is central to our continued relevance.  That, and nurturing people&#039;s fondness of physical libraries, I hope.  The internet is a tool, but a demanding one.  It may seem free but it requires a lot of equipment and is not easy to read from at length.  Who knows, that may change soon too, or we&#039;ll just acclimate to reading book-length texts. 
(It is almost embarrassing that the 2006 ALA Handbook is so neglectful of the Internet.  Didn&#039;t we just visit &quot;information island&quot; in second life?)</description>
